Christmas weekend

This was the first Christmas that our little family didn't celebrate together on the actual holiday.  So, I invited Kyler to go to Semiahmoo Resort near Blaine for the weekend. The spa, hot tub, festive decorations, movie White Christmas, buffet dinner and the view!  It is located on a spit jutting out into Puget Sound. Spectacular!

Celebrating Christmas Together

We celebrated Christmas, had the annual Beef fondue dinner and Crab legs, and exchanged gifts a week early.   In the middle of dinner the lighted Christmas ships cruised by and we could hear the music.  It was very special and fun.

Walking Architectural Tour in Downtown Seattle

Look up!  We just don't look up in our city... busy with finding parking, looking for addresses, weaving through a bustling crowd or ducking under an eave from the rain.  Volunteering as a tour guide for the Seattle Architectural Foundation has really added to my life.  I have taken the time to learn about our city and in turn shared that information with people from as far away as France and Switzerland to people that live in buildings on the tour.  This year I had the "Greatest Hits" tour approved by the Real Estate Department of Licensing as a 3 clockhour course for agents.  In December, there was quite a crowd of real estate agents on the tour. Here we are on the James Carpenter Bridge, a functional piece of art in the Seattle City Hall.

We are thankful on this day

Thanksgiving was a special holiday for our little family as it was the first one with Colin and his Fiance, Terrah! Along with them, Kyler, and I prepared a fabulous Thanksgiving Feast!

While taking photos after dinner on the couch to use for my Christmas card, the little baby girl was trying to get some attention by kicking so that all would focus on her!  It was so adorable!

Dinner at Elizabeth's in November

Elizabeth has a knack for entertaining.. making a simple dinner for a group!  Sam was heading into the hospital for an intense chemo treatment for two weeks so we enjoyed a sweet dinner together with her son, Jon, who had just arrived in town and Kyler and Kees.

Halloween Brunch

Let the spirits roam the streets at night, but Halloween has never been a favorite holiday.  I invited a number of my friends to come over for a brunch on a Sunday afternoon.  It was just a lovely party!

Garvin House First Fundraiser

The first fundraiser was a fantastic success due to the vision, perseverance, and work of Sam Garvin to get her new non profit off the ground!  I'm proud to be on the board of the organization that is raising funds to create a temporary home for other Stage 4 cancer patients from out of town in treatment at local hospitals.  The Virginia V was a wonderful location full of donations that were all scooped up in a silent auction.  I look forward to our next fundraiser!

The Last Leg of the Cruise

Dolly piloted the Rophy for almost the entire trip from Anacortes to Seattle.  She has such a calm demeanor and just knows how to take that boat through the sea!  I was so amazed!   It was exciting to have made the journey and had that fabulous vacation in the islands.  A bit sad to have it end.  Made me wish for another vacation like that again!

Ahoy, Jim, passing by the Channel Marker

On August 1st cruising up to Friday harbor, my boat broke down right there at the Channel marker on Camano Island.  I called Jim McCarthy, who towed us to port back then, that I was passing the spot that I was at anchor all day waiting for him to come tow me.  He said.. "Keep going, babe.. just keep going!"

Leaving on the Journey heading to Anacortes

It was time to head home after a month on the island.  Dolly Leber and Bryan Wilhelm came up to Friday Harbor to join me on the cruise home.

Music on the Organ at Rosiario Resort

Doug Thompson came back with his boat.  Bryan and a friend of Dougs came up and we all went on Dougs boat to Rosario Resort to listen to Christopher Peacock play on the organ.  We toured around the resort and had just a lovely day!

Hiking around the coast at Lime Kiln Lighthouse

Another beautiful day so I went back to the lighthouse because I wanted to go hike down to the beach and have lunch.
