Getting ready for my adventure to the San Juans

One month in the San Juan Islands living on my boat.. that is the plan. I am so blessed to have such awesome friends that are fun and supportive.
The last two days were spent getting the boat ready to go. The engine got a full test from belts to fluids. The fuel filters were changed. In addition, I had work done fixing up the helm on the fly bridge.
I purchased a navigation program and GPS for my laptop and the radar was fixed...

This night before I leave we are staying in Shilshole Marina. The sunset was spectacular.

I have been nervous and excited. I just wanted to have a month in the summer... the whole month of August and get away from the city. I won't drive, go to big festivals or events, teach live classes, mow grass, or even get mail. I wanted to see what it would be like. I have spend hundreds of days at the ocean.. but this will be fun to be on the boat in the islands. I think I have my entire summer wardrobe, three computers, a dozen books, craft projects, and projects to complete here on the boat.

The Sweet Smell of Lavender

The Sequim Lavender festival July 19th draws tens of thousands of tourists for what they promote as the "Lavender Capital of North America." Maureen, Lynnette and I wandered through the craft booths and then visited a couple lavender farms. While we picked bunches of fresh lavender in colors of purple, white and yellow a band played fun music and the sun shined overhead.
