Walls Filled with Art

The Frye Museum in Seattle had an exhibit of Charles and Emma Frye's collection of European paintings shown in the "salon style" with paintings filling the walls. It was just mesmerizing.  My great grandmother collected art and my whole family benefited with works of art spread out. I wonder what it looked like in her house?

Washington Wine Tasting

Jane and I went to a wine tasting event in Interbay. There were a  number of red wines and we learned to distinguish different flavors and about the Vintner from France.  I could listen to him talk about anything! Since I am posting this well after the event, I can't remember the wine cellar or the winery.. shhh!

Getting Agents and Lenders Excited about Teaching

I teach the Instructor Development Workshop just about every month so that there will be more opportunities for agents to get clockhours from my school and there will be more variety of teachers out there.  This is a class that I taught for about 10 agents and lenders in a Keller Williams office. Rebecca Jones came to visit and since she was one of my first instructors in title insurance over 18 years ago, it is always fun to have her speak to the classes!

Teaching and Visiting in Vancouver

I love getting the opportunity to go teach real estate classes all over the state.  I taught for the title company in Vancouver and was so excited to have Terri Eccles Pettet come visit class and share some of her social media ideas.  I learned from her to ask students/agents in classes to use their phones and take pics of me teaching and post them on facebook!  What a fun way to get myself out there showing I am teaching. I spent the night at my favorite place, McMenamins Edgefield in Oregon.

Accepted at University of Oregon Law School!

Instead of calling Kyler, I took a photo of the return address of the envelope that arrived today from the University of Oregon Law School.  I knew she was accepted!  It was an exciting day.  She had several acceptance letters, but this is the school she chose!  I am so proud of her! This is a photo taken in the fall during school.

Said Goodbye to my Mazda... Hello to Honda

There is a life for every product.  Though I loved my little blue Mazda Protege, the repairs to the engine were more than the value of the car.  With about 150,000 miles since I bought it new in 2003 it was hard to say goodbye.  So after shopping for a week enduring those just pathetic car salespeople, I found a 2004 Honda Civic while browsing on my iPad at a Honda dealership giving me the run around... I found this one at the BMW dealer in Bellevue... got up and headed there!   It had less than 50,000 miles and was in great condition.  Though I want to be conservative and not spend lots of money on a vehicle, I do dream of owning another one or two.  I drive so much... but a girl can dream.  When I am on the road, I look around at all the cars and wonder what I would buy if I could have anything.  ... A Pruis and a Honda CRV.... so far they are in the lead.  It could be years.. hmmm.

Storm water flooding

The water that comes down the ravine ends up in the backyard.  A development up the hill built in 1966 was repaved in 1999 and storm drains were installed.  Now over a mile and half of storm drains just dump storm water into the ravine.  The overflow and erosion comes down like a waterfall during heavy rains.  For some unknown reason, my neighbors, who have done nothing to mitigate for the water, continue to blame me for the overflow.  The water crosses one neighbors yard in the back and continues downhill... across my yard.... then flows across the neighbor to the south and into the drain that takes it into the storm drains in the street.  Many years ago, the people that used to live here installed piping to try to catch the water and take it to the drain to the south of my neighbors.  but, when the waterfall comes, it is overwhelming.  I have spent thousands of dollars replacing the piping, putting in drain cleanouts, and cleaning up the stream.  My neighbors spend their time complaining.  Such a shame.

Holding Riley for the Second Time

Oh, the thrill of holding my little Grandaughter, Riley.  She's just precious. My heart just soars.  I dreamed that this might happen someday, but I thought I would be old.  I don't feel old enough to have the title of "Grammy."  It makes me realize what my Mom must have felt.
Colin and Terrah will be the most loving parents.  We are so fortunate to welcome Riley into the family!

A glorious Birthday for Riley June Danielson

She came into this world just about lunchtime.  A healthy baby girl weighing 8 lbs 4 oz and 21 1/2 inches long with dark curly locks.  Colin and Terrah, the proud parents, invited the family to the Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland to welcome her into this world. Oh...  what a day to rejoice!

Real Estate BarCamp at Seattle Center March 3rd

With over 650 participants, this years Real Estate BarCamp was probably one of the largest and most successful in the country.  We had enough sponsors to not only pay the costs, but also to be able to donate thousands of dollars to a local charity for homelessness.  The committee consisted of many friends from other planned BarCamps.  The all worked tirelessly and sometimes well into the night.
